General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA) has resumed flight testing of its YFQ-42A Collaborative Combat Aircraft after a temporary pause caused by an April mishap shortly after takeoff. The issue was traced to an autopilot software error related to weight and center-of-gravity calculations, which has since been corrected through updated software and safety reviews.
The US Air Force and GA-ASI jointly reviewed the incident, approved the fixes, and cleared the aircraft to return to flight. No injuries occurred, although the test aircraft was lost.
The YFQ-42A is a semi-autonomous, modular uncrewed fighter designed for rapid development and mission flexibility under the Collaborative Combat Aircraft program, supporting human-machine teaming and next-generation combat operations.
