Anduril Industries announced a framework agreement with the US Department of War to mass-produce its new surface-launched Barracuda-500M (SLB-500M) cruise missile system, with plans to deliver at least 3,000 missiles and more than 60 launchers over three years starting in 2027.

The Barracuda-500M is designed as a lower-cost, mass-producible long-range strike weapon with a range of more than 500 nautical miles and a 100-pound payload. The missile can be launched from standard 20-foot shipping containers and is intended for high-volume strikes against land and maritime targets.

Anduril says the system was built for rapid, large-scale production using commodity components and simplified manufacturing processes. The company has invested heavily in new production facilities and solid rocket motor manufacturing capacity as the Pentagon pushes to rebuild munitions stockpiles with cheaper, scalable weapons systems.
