According to Anduril Industries, the US Department of War has signed a framework agreement with the company to rapidly expand production of its Barracuda-500 affordable strike munition. The two-phase agreement aims to deliver thousands of pallet- and lug-launched Barracuda-500 systems annually for seven years, with initial deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027.

The agreement builds on an earlier contract for 1,000 ground-launched Barracuda-500M systems per year and supports the US military’s effort to supplement high-end precision weapons with lower-cost, mass-producible munitions. Anduril said the Barracuda-500 is designed for large-scale manufacturing, with more than 90% common parts across variants, enabling rapid production and supply chain flexibility.

To support demand, Anduril has invested in new production facilities in California and Ohio, including its Arsenal-1 manufacturing complex. The company says it expects to scale annual production to several thousand Barracuda-500 systems, helping strengthen US and allied long-range strike capabilities.
