Your Survival Guy in Paris: The Greatest Cafés

October 14, 2024 By E.J. Smith - Your Survival Guy

Your Survival Guy and Gal went for a late lunch recently at Café de Flore on the Left Bank, in the 6th, in the heart of Saint Germain des Prés. This is where you want to be. It’s a favorite because you have Café Bonaparte, Les Deux Magots, and Brasserie Lipp—just to name a few—right there.

This is the greatest literary location of cafés in all of Paris explains the website for Relais de l’Entrecôte. Walking home from dinner last night at Allard (duck and olives) there was a huge line for l’Entrecôte. Which is a good reminder to try to make reservations well ahead of time.

And if you ever get tired of museums or want a break, you can tell your gang to Meet Me at Freddy’s near the corner of Rue de Seine and Rue de Buci. If you want to watch the Paris scene as it unfolds before you, grab a seat at Maison Sauvage or anywhere else in this magnificent area in Paris.

Action Line: A good strategy for your next visit to Paris is to focus on an area where you’d like to have lunch and/or dinner. Paris is big. It can be overwhelming. Taking it in small bites can be more palatable. Read more about Paris here.

He grew-up worshiping Neil Peart (RIP) of the band Rush, and loves the song Tom Sawyer—the name of his family’s boat, a Grady-White Canyon 306. He grew up in Mattapoisett, MA, an idyllic small town on the water near Cape Cod. He spends time in Newport, RI and Bartlett, NH—both as far away from Wall Street as one could mentally get. The Newport office is on a quiet, tree lined street not far from the harbor and the log cabin in Bartlett, NH, the “Live Free or Die” state, sits on the edge of the White Mountain National Forest. He enjoys spending time in Key West (RIP JB) and Paris.
