Saab has unveiled the new HEAT 758 round for the Carl-Gustaf M4, designed to defeat heavily armored vehicles equipped with Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA), which has become increasingly common on modern battlefields.

The HEAT 758 uses a tandem warhead system: an initial charge disables the ERA, allowing the main charge to penetrate up to 700mm of armor, making it capable of destroying some of the heaviest armored vehicles in service. An undisclosed customer has already placed an order, and production is underway.

The round also incorporates Saab’s Firebolt technology, enabling communication between the ammunition, the Carl-Gustaf M4 launcher, and the Fire Control Device 558 to improve accuracy, reduce gunner workload, and increase first-round hit probability.
