Four Letter Word I’m Celebrating this Labor Day

September 3, 2021 By E.J. Smith - Your Survival Guy

Your Survival Guy wants to share a personal story with you. It’s from a client who’s finally calling it quits. Dr. Lee Payne and I have been working together for close to 20-years but when you consider his affiliation with Richard C. Young’s Intelligence Report, we’re talking more like 40-years, and many more to come.

Dr. Payne remembers reading Dick’s investment letters, believing in Dick’s philosophy and putting it to work. Dick’s letter was a monthly reminder that helped Lee beat inertia. Lee invested in himself (my favorite investment) and his business, and what was left over he invested according to Dick’s recommendations, allowing compound interest to do its magic.

As you can see below, it’s a winning formula that absolutely turned Lee’s life into the success he knew it could be. But he knew it wouldn’t be easy. Hard work never is. Imagine for a moment if you had to do it all over again and start from scratch tomorrow. Forget it. There’s no owner’s manual for a lifetime of work. You can’t get up at 5am for 40-years in just one week.

When I ask you how you saved all the money you have today, you say: “I don’t know. I really don’t.” You tell me what your job was but you can’t possibly remember everything you HAD to DO or DO WITHOUT. You needed to survive, plain and simple. You needed to put food on the table. It wasn’t about driving fancy cars. It was about survival.

TODAY, there’s that four letter word that keeps tripping people up: WORK. You and I know work is work. It’s not a guarantee for anything. You’re not promised an outcome. You’re not promised you’re going to love what you do. But I guarantee you, because you tell me, that when you’re good at what you do love tends to catch right up with you. Just give it some time.

Action Line: Happy Labor Day to you and yours as you celebrate your lifetime of WORK.

From Dr. Lee Payne

He grew up in Mattapoisett, MA, an idyllic small town on the water near Cape Cod. He spends time in Newport, RI and Bartlett, NH—both as far away from Wall Street as one could mentally get. The Newport office is on a quiet, tree lined street not far from the harbor and the log cabin in Bartlett, NH, the “Live Free or Die” state, sits on the edge of the White Mountain National Forest. He enjoys spending time in Key West (RIP JB) and Paris.
