Northrop Grumman has entered into an agreement with Barrett Firearms to manufacture the weapon component of its Precision Grenadier System (PGS), a shoulder-fired 25mm grenade launcher. Under the agreement, Barrett will produce the weapon at its Nashville, Tennessee, facility and integrate an inductive setter that enables soldiers to program Northrop Grumman’s compatible 25mm ammunition.

The PGS is designed to provide infantry squads with enhanced capabilities against targets behind cover, in close-quarters combat, and against small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS). The system combines the launcher with Northrop Grumman’s developing ammunition technology to address evolving battlefield requirements.

The partnership combines Northrop Grumman’s guided-weapons expertise with Barrett’s firearm-manufacturing experience, supporting production and delivery for U.S. and international customers. The agreement highlights continued development of precision infantry weapons intended to improve battlefield effectiveness and counter emerging threats, including small drones.
