Is there a ceasefire with Iran? It’s hard to tell with both countries conducting strikes on each other seemingly every other day. Yesterday, once again, the United States conducted “self-defense” strikes on Iran, and Iran responded with an attack on American assets in Kuwait. The Economist reports:

America launched new strikes on Iran, but again claimed they were “purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire”. USCentral Command said its forces had shot down drones launched from southern Iran. Soon after, Kuwait said it was “confronting hostile missile and drone attacks”; Iran said it had targeted an “American airbase” but did not specify where. Oil prices jumped in response to the fighting.

US Central Command explained the situation via X.com:

Trump once again reiterated his position that the United States will only make a “great” deal with Iran, and that if such a deal weren’t possible, he is willing to maintain the status quo.
