
Four Republicans, including Thomas Massie (KY), Brian Fitzpatrick (PA), Tom Barrett (MI), and Warren Davidson (OH), joined Democrats to pass a bill in the House to limit President Trump’s war powers in Iran until he receives Congressional approval for his actions.
The bill is unlikely to pass the Senate, but it sends a signal that Trump is limited in what Congress will allow him to do in Iran. Barrett posted on X.com:
Congress has the exclusive authority under the Constitution to declare war and authorize the use of force. The War Powers Act of 1973 delegates some of that authority to the president for a limited period of time.
