The Bed-Wetting Brigade
Is Joe Biden so challenged that he cannot win an election? Democrats seem more interested that he won’t be able to win in November than that he has dementia, is in no shape to be commander in chief, and is putting America in real danger every day he occupies the Oval Office. Victor Davis Hanson (American Greatness) calls it a biter paradox that is beginning to infuriate the American people.
Why did President Joe Biden look orange? Is he trying to out-orange the Orange Man? Looks aren’t everything, we are told, but they do count. And Joe Biden did not look normal. Nor did he sound in command. He sounded weak during Stephanopoulos’s interview with him last week. Put another way, he didn’t hurt himself, only because after a dreadful week before, he eked through the interview. No hits, no runs, no errors, recaps Charles Lipson.
According to Gallup, and undoubtedly your own gut feeling, the legacy media has a credibility issue.
53% of Americans said they had a great deal or fair amount of trust in the media in 1997.
Gradually, then Suddenly
In 2007, the credibility number was down to 47%. Today, according to Ben Shapiro in Spectator. US, “all media credibility is gone.”
How the Media Lost America’s Trust:
- Russia-gate
- Black Lives Matter
- Covid
- Transgenderism
- The Hunter Biden laptop story
But the media maintained some semblance of credibility by appealing to the public’s understanding of the difficulty of reporting of an “ever-evolving set of facts.”
When the (media’s) lies were debunked and … exposed, they could simply claim they were just reporting based on the information they had at the time. They were just doing the hard work of Journalisming™ — just trusting the experts, who always slanted their political direction — and could continue congratulating each other for their brave and important work.
Then Along Came Joe Biden
Biden is senile or he is not. And it does not take an expert in Russian relations, systemic racism or Covid biology to tell the answer to that question. Any child could do it.
Unwittingly, Joe Biden Screwed the Media
(Joe Biden) volunteered himself into contest where he set the time, place, channel, moderators and rules. There was not an advantage he did not have. And he showed the world that he was fully senile. Unable to get through a sentence. Slack-jawed and glassy-eyed. Hoarse and incoherent. We all saw it.
Hidden in Plain Sight in Front of Millions
(The Media) has been defending Biden — lying for him in the same way they did for Obama — but without a safety net, continues Mr. Shapiro.
They figured that the Biden campaign itself would be the safety net: that the campaign would never put the Old Man out there if he was likely to implode, that the White House staff would provide some level of plausible deniability for his senility.
Bed-Wetters Unite
Ignore the “bed-wetting brigade,” Biden’s campaign manager, Bob Flaherty, insisted in a fundraising e-mail.
Ben, isn’t that how to treat inferior employees?
That’s how you treat inferior employees, not independent human beings with the power of judgment. Because that’s what the media are: the Democrats’ employees.
Biden’s revelatory performance ripped the veil away from (the media’s) patina of objectivity: because they always knew that he was senile — and they lied about it to protect him.
Will the legacy media redefine itself? The original purpose of the press was to inform the public of relevant information when it got it. Now? Will see if the media will be swept along with Joe Biden’s failed presidency into the ash can of history.
Beginning Fallout
WURD, a Philadelphia radio station, has parted ways with a host who interviewed President Biden on Wednesday using questions provided to her by the Biden campaign. WURD said the interview violated its journalistic independence.
WURD said in a statement on Sunday that “agreeing to a predetermined set of questions jeopardizes” its listeners’ trust. The host, Andrea Lawful-Sanders, resigned in a mutual agreement, according to WURD.
