France’s hardline PM Manuel Valls is supervising a nationwide crackdown featuring emergency measures that allow police to act without fear of judicial oversight. It is “tough- talking” PM Valls and not President Francois Hollande who is orchestrating the French security response. The state of emergency will last at least three months.
