Freedom from Government’s Performative Safety-ism

April 20, 2022 By Debbie Young

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris talk with White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator Jeff Zients and Chief Medical Adviser to the President Dr. Anthony Fauci outside the South Court Auditorium in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building at the White House Thursday, Feb. 25, 2021, prior to an event celebrating the 50 millionth COVID-19 vaccination. Or, “the night the masks came off.”

Is the Biden White House so “insular, conceited and tone-deaf” that it may try to have Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle’s ruling overturned?

Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle voided the Biden administration’s widely reviled but recently extended mask mandate on public transportation, reports Paul du Quenoy in Spectator World.

Awkwardly Doubling Down on the Hysteria

The public transportation systems of Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, and, of course, New York announced that they would continue to enforce mask mandates. Some claimed to be “studying” Judge Mizelle’s ruling, but by defying it they have raised the awkward question of whether they are now in violation of federal law.

For nearly two years, an overzealous Washington, demanded compliance, despite “the science,” which had shown again and again that “masks are of little to no use in stopping the spread of Covid and can cause serious psychological harm.”

But whether it does or not, whatever pretense of moral authority it once claimed is now gone for good. Free Americans will never again submit to the power-hungry tyranny lurking behind its performative safetyism.
