AeroVironment, Inc. has received a US Army prototype agreement under the LASSO program to develop and test its Switchblade 400 loitering munition. The system is designed as a man-portable, medium-range precision strike weapon intended for fast deployment in contested environments.
The Switchblade 400 will integrate into the Army’s modernization efforts by providing advanced autonomous targeting, anti-armor capability, and networked “sensor-to-shooter” operations that allow soldiers to quickly identify and engage threats. It is built for scalability, upgradeability, and interoperability through a modular open systems design.
The Army’s selection builds on prior contracts for other Switchblade systems, reinforcing its role as a trusted provider of loitering munitions for precision strikes and battlefield flexibility.
