The belief that face masks will protect you from COVID-19 is based on superstition, not science.
I have been perplexed by the prevalence of face masks in my community, being familiar with the medical and scientific literature showing that they are ineffective—and perhaps counterproductive—as a tool in protecting against the coronavirus. My current dismay has been heightened by my recent vacation in South Dakota, where you see relatively few masks and their use is voluntary for most people. Why this disconnect by my neighbors between evidence and usage, even when it is not required by a Democrat governor or mayor? (You poor folks in places like New York have no choice.)
Quite by chance, I found my answer in an Internet post by Elana Freeland, an author unfamiliar to me. She recalls: “I was five years old when my Rumanian Roma grandmother on the city bus told me that Dracula had come to America.”
Of course! What an apt metaphor for our current situation! Our entire response to this pandemic, and especially the mask propaganda, is medieval superstition, not science. A search for a talisman against an Evil Force we cannot see or understand. I can visualize the villagers crossing themselves as I head for Drac’s castle in a stagecoach without the protection of a mask. (Crucifixes are so 15th century.)
I have read a huge number of sites and articles on the efficacy of face masks, and you will find my summary of those findings in my companion article to this one, “The Medical and Scientific Evidence Against Face Masks.” I urge you to pay attention to the voluminous evidence in that article supporting my claim that the use of face masks is mostly superstition.
When I started researching these two articles, I had no idea how damning the evidence would be. It turns out that there’s plenty of evidence that they are not even effective for surgeons and dentists, much less for you and me. I had no idea. They are of little use against any infectious viral disease—colds, influenza, or previous pandemics like SARS—much less Covid-19, where the barriers to effectiveness are even greater. That second article consists mostly of summaries of studies, as space is limited, but see for yourself by reading as many of the actual citations as you wish.
As Dr. Simone Gold, founder of America’s Frontline Doctors, noted during their recent return visit to Washington: “The facts are actually not in dispute. Masks are completely irrelevant… Prior to March 2020 there were no scientific journals that asserted that masks could keep out a virus.”
The following month, April, was when the great reset on masks began. Reversals by organizations like the World Health Organization and public health figureheads like Dr. Anthony Fauci. Retractions of key articles in top medical journals that had made the case against masks. And of course censorship by the medical establishment and Silicon Valley moguls of any announcements by doctors and organizations that were contrary to the approved line. Instead we had the constant drumbeat of fear propaganda, using bogus numbers, with the incessant incantation that everyone needs to wear masks for protection.
What’s Up, Doc?
Obviously something big was going on. Here are some of my thoughts about exactly what is going on.
Follow the money: The fear campaign is necessary to keep people in line until a vaccine can be marketed. That’s where the really big money will be made from this pandemic, and the American health system is all about making money, not the promotion of good health. That’s why expensive drugs are used and inexpensive ones are shunned. Why inexpensive immune-boosting supplements like vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc are completely ignored as a weapon against the virus. Why there was the emphasis on expensive ventilators, even though there is evidence they are hurtful rather than helpful—hospitals got top-dollar from the government for each patient they put on them.
But all of that pales in comparison to the money Big Pharma will make from vaccines. Especially if they become mandatory for everyone, with a new vaccine every year for the rest of everyone’s life because the viruses mutate so fast the vaccines are outdated before they go on the market. And where vaccines are concerned, key players like Bill Gates and Dr. Fauci are compromised. So the fear campaign must be incessant until the first vaccines are available.
Defeat Trump: Today’s radicalized Democrats believe that no crisis should go to waste, that all crises are opportunities. And the key opportunity here is to defeat the hated President Trump. Four years of Russiagate didn’t work, impeachment didn’t work, their gutter attacks on Trump nominees like Brett Kavanaugh worked against them. Their last big opportunity was to bring down the economy—Trump’s biggest reelection talking point—with the lockdown, and to paint him as the person responsible for hundreds of thousands of Americans dying from the pandemic. You think I’m exaggerating? Lawrence O’Donnell, MSNBC host: “No one on Earth has done more to spread the coronavirus than Donald Trump.”
Muzzle opposition opinions: The two features that most dramatically distinguish our politics from those of the rest of the world are our almost unlimited free speech, and gun rights. And not surprisingly, the Left and today’s radicalized Democrats are trying to eradicate those rights. Liberals used to be champions of free speech, but that kind of liberal is extinct today, replaced by leftist Democrats working in league with the Big Tech giants of Silicon Valley to silence the views of their opponents. No one is exempt—not President Trump with his tweets, nor Internet sites as popular as Dr. Joseph Mercola.
But the digital world is hard to control, and the opposition refuses to play dead. And when you go to the website, for example, of America’s Frontline Doctors, you see emblazoned at the top: “Banned & Censored by YouTube.” That has now become a badge of honor—a sign that the establishment is afraid of you. And a sign that our opposition is stronger than ever.
How Surreal Can the Fear Campaign Get?
California’s Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom: “Going out to eat with members of your household this weekend? Don’t forget to keep your mask on in between bites. Do your part to keep those around you healthy.” How many California Democrats do you think follow that idiotic advice? Does Jane Fonda? Can you picture Arnold Schwarzenegger adjusting his mask in between each bite? How about the guv himself?
New York City’s health department, in its “Safer Sex and COVID-19” fact sheet: Cut down on the orgies, and instead masturbate whenever possible. But don’t forget to wash your hands and your sex toys for at least 20 seconds before and afterward. And get “creative with sexual positions and physical barriers, like walls, that allow sexual contact while preventing close face to face contact.” In plain English, consider having sex through a hole in the wall (a “glory hole”) or other physical barrier to avoid close facial contact.
And maybe this will be the “new normal”—how we proles will look, walking around in the future:
ViriMASK: better than N95 masks?
Dr. Noam Gavriely, a Technion alumnus and former #Technion professor, has invented a mask that blocks 99.25% of #coronavirus-sized particles. #COVID19 #CoronaTechhttps://t.co/JYnWIq7aG3— Technion Canada (@CanadaTechnion) September 15, 2020
This attempt to remedy the ineffectiveness of current masks comes from Noam Gavriely, an Israeli gas mask innovator, who is now promoting his ViriMASK. He has already sold 10,000 of these, he told The Times of Israel. I haven’t seen an endorsement yet from Dr. Fauci, but the Democrats’ favorite doctor has said (in an interview with ABC News medical correspondent Jennifer Ashton) that if you can get “goggles or an eye shield, you should use it.” He said that using both goggles and a face covering would provide “complete” protection from the coronavirus, and recommends making masks a permanent part of our lives by using them during every influenza season going forward.
Will the Democrats Force You to Wear a Mask?
Joe Biden has called repeatedly for a national mask mandate: “Let’s institute a mask mandate nationwide,” he said August 13 during a virtual briefing on the coronavirus pandemic. “Every single American should be wearing a mask when they are outside for the next three months at a minimum,” Biden added, saying such a rule has nothing to do with rights “but your responsibility as an American.” And this during the Democratic National Convention: “We’ll have a national mandate to wear a mask.”
But by September, sensing growing opposition to mask mandates, Biden denied ever calling for one (a lie), saying he was a “constitutionalist.” “I don’t think constitutionally they could, so I wouldn’t issue a mandate.” But with court packing and the Democrats’ constantly “evolving” views on the Constitution, who knows….
His campaign team certainly thinks there will be a national mask mandate if Biden-Harris are elected. The Committee to Protect Medicare PAC, a Democrat campaign front, has sent out a fundraising mailing stating: “Joe Biden and Kamala Harris just announced their support for a nationwide mask mandate — and we’re fully on board…. Are you with us?”
Be forewarned, and keep that in mind when you vote on November 3.
