Sheriffs Are Gun Owners’ First Line of Defense

As I wrote back in 2010, your sheriff is the most powerful law enforcement officer in your county. In my series on Sheriff Richard Mack, I told readers about his book The County Sheriff, and his philosophy on protecting Americans’ constitutional rights, even if that meant disobeying federal regulators.

Now the NRA’s Cam Edwards is explaining the stand being taken by many of the elected politicians (including sheriffs) in the 27 of Washington’s 39 counties that rejected the recently approved Washington Initiative 1639. The new law contains a number of measures to curtail the Second Amendment rights of the citizens of the state. Many officials who support Americans’ rights are having none of it.
