Ukraine says it has completed its largest deep-strike campaign against Russia, targeting key military and economic infrastructure far from the front lines. The strikes hit oil refineries, including the Omsk Oil Refinery, Russia’s largest, located about 2,500 kilometers from Ukraine, as well as fuel depots, defense factories, logistics hubs, and military facilities. Ukrainian officials said the Omsk strike meant that all 11 of Russia’s largest oil refineries had now been targeted.

The campaign reportedly struck 697 targets in the first half of 2026 and caused an estimated $6.1 billion in economic losses by disrupting fuel production, weapons manufacturing, and military logistics, according to United24. Ukraine said the long-range strikes are designed to increase the cost of the war for Russia and support frontline operations, although the reported figures have not been independently verified.

Ukraine also carried out overnight drone strikes on two additional Russian oil refineries in Yaroslavl and Bashkortostan, targeting energy infrastructure as part of its broader effort to weaken Russia’s fuel supply and war economy, according to Reuters. The continued attacks highlight Ukraine’s strategy of striking oil and industrial facilities to pressure Russia’s economy, while both sides continue targeting critical infrastructure during the conflict.
