Will Trump Put Ground Troops on Iran’s Shores?

With Iran threatening tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, there are rumblings that President Trump may authorize putting ground troops on the shore of Iran. On January 3, the President told journalists that “We’re not afraid of boots on the ground.”

Now the push is on from places like The Wall Street Journal to put troops on the ground in Iran to secure the Strait of Hormuz. AF Post explains in a post on X.com:

As the war drags on, Iran’s harassment of ships in the Strait of Hormuz is getting worse. Independent analyst Damien Symon has posted a map showing the approximate locations of vessels targeted by the Iranians.

With increased pressure on the Strait, the Trump administration will need to find a solution that satisfies markets and reopens energy flows. The possibilities at the moment appear to be to withdraw from hostilities or escalate into controlling Iran’s Persian Gulf shoreline.
