In a remote area running down Rt 29 in Southern Virginia into North Carolina, President Trump was the relatively quiet and insignificant winner, especially after the enthusiasm we encountered in PA. The impression we came away with yesterday was a general lack of fervor for either candidate.
North Carolina will open up for us today as we continue south to Beaufort, SC.
Guns are a big factor in hunter friendly North and South Carolina. In North Carolina, the open carry of a loaded handgun while on foot is lawful in many areas. Loaded long guns may be kept in racks or slings if they remain visible. North Carolina also has the NRA Castle Doctrine (stand your ground in public areas), although the Pinehurst resort posts signs warning that firearms are not permissible on the property. (Can’t have agitated linksters shooting up one another, I guess.)
