While America considers how to stop this totalitarian crusade, no longer is there time to wait for the next election or to pin America’s hopes on a “silent majority.”
That silent majority, warns Andrew Michta, may not be present.
If there is, its members may no longer be able to articulate what they see unfolding around them.
It is hard to call things by their proper names in a society whose elites insist on calling looters and arsonists “protesters,” national monuments “symbols of racism,” and the victims of looting and arson the beneficiaries of “white privilege.”
The challenge is massive, but it starts with the simple act of calling things by their proper names.
Trader Joe’s – Standing Up
Joe Coulombe, the founder of the Trader Joe’s grocery-store chain, and his wife attended a talk of Mr. Nodlinger’s, reports Jay in NRO.
It was in Austria, in fact, about music.
I had some words in Impromptus here.
Lately, Trader Joe’s has been in the news. (TJ has) long given whimsical names to (its) foreign-food products: “Trader José’s,” for instance, and “Trader Giotto’s.” “Arabian Joe’s” and “Trader Joe San.”
In recent days, the wokistas have gotten cross about this and circulated a petition. They demanded that Trader Joe’s remove the names.
At first, it seemed the company would capitulate. But then — mirabile dictu — they stood up.
Trader Joe’s Pushes Back at the Mob:
We disagree that any of these labels are racist. We (TJ) do not make decisions based on petitions.
Recently we have heard from many customers reaffirming that these name variations are largely viewed in exactly the way they were intended — as an attempt to have fun with our product marketing.
Way to go, Trader Joe. Excellent.
