Hank Crawford was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and began his musical studies on piano. Later he would pick up the saxophone. Eventually, he was hired by Ray Charles and worked his way up to become Charles’s musical director. Eventually, he went solo and had his own successful career. Heart and Soul, The Hank Crawford Anthology is a great introduction to Crawford’s music for listeners. Here’s a track listing:
