Today, there are three times as many mutual funds and ETFs as there are stocks to invest in. It’s like the investment business has turned into a sandwich shop. When Bob’s Special Turkey Club stops selling, Bob comes up with a new sandwich. Same meat, different combination, better profit margins.
The investment business has a knack for slicing and dicing, as I explained to you in my July 12, 2024, “SPECIAL CONFESSION: Why I’m Being Hard on Vanguard.”
Never have there been fewer stocks to invest in, yet more products to choose from. That’s not investing. It’s throwing macaroni at the wall to see what sticks.
