Instead of shutting down the Virus, upon taking the oath of office in January, President Biden instead shut down Keystone XL Pipeline.
Some 11 months into Biden’s presidency, more people have died of COVID than died under his predecessor. As Grace Curley concedes in Spectator.World, perhaps “
Back in October 2020, then-candidate Biden — or whoever was running his Twitter account at the time — proudly tweeted, “I’m not going to shut down the country. I’m not going to shut down the economy. I’m going to shut down the virus.” That’s right. Joe was going to shut down the virus all while eating ice cream, wearing aviators and saying things like “God love ya.”
For Biden Context Is Important:
“Two hundred and twenty thousand Americans dead. If you hear nothing else I say tonight, hear this. Anyone who’s responsible for not taking control — in fact, not saying, I take no responsibility, initially — anyone who is responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of America.”
- The president, rather than addressing problems, is rambling on about Cabbage Patch Kids and making TikToks with Bill Nye the Science Guy.
- The Biden administration is busy preparing Americans for Pandemic 2.0. As these officials start issuing new orders and telling us “nothing is off the table” to stop the spread, for most people it feels like a case of déjà flu.
- Dr. Fauci is back to his round-the-clock appearances on MSNBC and CNN where he offers his opinion on Rand Paul, Christmas gatherings and booster shots.
- Hospitals are postponing elective surgeries.
Politicians have also returned to their favorite pastime — enforcing rules that they have no intention of obeying. Governor Gavin Newsom extended California’s state of emergency before going on a lavish, $29,000-a-night vacation in Mexico. I’m sure fears of Omicron put a dampener on his trip.
Biden Passes His Own Grim Milestone
Counting and comparing deaths in order to score political points is ghoulish and unproductive. Since Biden gladly used this tactic during a 2020 debate with Trump. Isn’t it only fair the President be held to his own standard?
Underestimating Joe Biden
No one (other than perhaps Obama) thought Joe could really mess things up.
Travel Bans/Quarantines Back in Vogue?
The road to hell is paved with good intentions: The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Biden surpassed 350,000 Covid deaths
Dearth from COVID or Fentanyl Overdose?
As Roger Kimball offers in American Spectator, about the only person he can think of who “tested positive” and died but was not accorded the honor of “dying from COVID” was St. George Floyd. Kimball continues to maintain that Floyd died from a fentanyl overdose, “but the jury said that Derek Chauvin was to blame and threw the proverbial book at him.”
Biden Promised Something New
Ms. Curley reminds readers:
(Biden) promised an end to the virus and he hasn’t delivered in any way. Seeing Biden talk about vaccinations, quarantines and masking feels like watching the opening scene of a bad movie you’ve seen before.
Ms. Curley does offer advice: Life is too short to sit through the same crappy movie twice.
