Rheinmetall has unveiled the GMF 140, a next-generation 140-meter, 6,000+ tonne guided missile frigate designed for NATO and allied naval forces. The ship is built for multi-domain warfare, combining advanced air defense, ballistic missile defense, anti-submarine warfare, and long-range strike capabilities in a digitally integrated platform.

The GMF 140 features an open architecture design, high survivability, reduced crew requirements, and NATO interoperability. Equipped with a 64-cell strike-length vertical launch system, advanced sensors, and support for multiple missile types, Rheinmetall is positioning the frigate for future naval modernization programs, including potential North American opportunities. The company says the design is intended to provide allied navies with a flexible, upgradeable warship capable of operating in high-threat maritime environments.
