Arsenal-2: Anduril’s Plan to Supercharge U.S. Submarine Production

Anduril Industries is investing $3.7 billion to build Arsenal-2, a new software-driven shipyard in Baltimore County, Maryland, to produce components for Virginia-class submarines. The project is expected to create 3,100 direct jobs and more than 11,000 indirect jobs, with operations planned to begin in 2030.

The facility will use advanced manufacturing, automation, and Anduril’s ArsenalOS software to increase production speed and reduce bottlenecks. Anduril will also receive a Navy contract worth up to $2.9 billion, bringing the combined private and government investment to about $6.6 billion.

Arsenal-2 is intended to expand the U.S. submarine industrial base by adding another major production site alongside General Dynamics Electric Boat and Newport News Shipbuilding. The project is part of a broader effort to increase Virginia-class submarine production and meet growing U.S. Navy and AUKUS requirements.
