During his campaign, President Donald Trump promised that he would get rid of the Department of Education, and it appears that today is the day he will keep that promise. While the President cannot eliminate the department entirely without Congress, he can cut it down to nothing. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Trump’s imminent action today on X.com, writing: “HAPPENING TODAY AT 4PM ET! Trump to Sign Order Thursday Aimed at Eliminating Education Department.”
