International Opinion Is Growing Hostile
As the humanitarian consequences of the conflict in Gaza extend, the situation in Gaza remains tragic. There is a way, however, to end the war and allow more aid to reach the people of Gaza.
President Trump angrily spoke out against moves by the U.K., Canada, and France to reward Hamas by recognizing a Palestinian state. The editors at NRO write that the finger-pointing from the Trump administration is in the right direction.
A Faster Way to Peace
Steve Witkoff, Trump’s envoy, was in Israel to discuss a ceasefire and the Gaza situation. The talks prompted President Trump to remind the world that there is a faster way to peace:
“The fastest way to end the Humanitarian Crises in Gaza is for Hamas to SURRENDER AND RELEASE THE HOSTAGES!!!”Â
This week, French President Emmanuel Macron said France was ready to recognize a Palestinian state. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who met with Donald Trump this week in Scotland, indicates that he will commit Britain to the recognition of Palestine.
Nadav Eyal, a distinguished Israeli journalist and commentator, tells the WSJ’s editor-at-large Gerry Baker, “Roughly speaking, of course, Hamas is manipulating everything within the Palestinian society in the Gaza Strip.”
Hamas officials are definitely not starving and they’re not hungry. They know how to use aid in certain areas. They have their branches of interference within the aid groups. If you do not cooperate with Hamas officials on the ground, whether you are a journalist, an aid worker and hospital, if you won’t work with them, these are the people with the guns in those enclaves left in the Gaza Strip.Â
In a better world, rather than criticize Israel, wouldn’t the rest of the world echo this statement? There’d be a better chance for a deal to end the war and allow more aid to reach the people of Gaza.
