
The US military released video of a strike on an Iranian warship in the Gulf of Oman, saying its operations have effectively eliminated Iran’s naval presence in that strategic waterway, reports Samuel Chamberlain and Ronny Reyes of the New York Post.
According to US Central Command, Iran went from about 11 ships in the Gulf of Oman to “zero,” after a series of strikes targeting Iranian naval assets, including the IRIS Shahid Bagheri, a converted drone carrier.

The footage and statements were shared amid broader Operation Epic Fury actions, which the US says aim to secure freedom of maritime navigation and counter long-standing Iranian threats to regional shipping.
The US also pushed back against Iranian claims that American vessels had been hit, emphasizing its continued naval operations. The NYP writes:

The Shahid Bagheri is believed to be one of at least three drone vessels that Iran controls, with the other two being the Shahid Roudaki and Shahid Mahdavi, both of which are smaller and less advanced.

While officials did not specify the exact munitions used, the scale and speed of the destruction of the IRIS Shahid Bagheri, a converted drone carrier, have prompted speculation that the US may have employed its QuickSink, a precision-guided capability designed to rapidly disable and sink ships.
