Is the Gender Gap Widening
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been running the country since 2020. Unfortunately, VP Harris is the page that needs turning.
The Harris campaign wants voters to turn the page on the failed policies of the Biden administration. Meanwhile, Joe and Jill want to protect Biden’s legacy. Rumors have it that there is bad blood between the Kamala campaign and Joe’s team.
Oops, Who’s on First?
Freddy Gray (The Spectator) feels Joe and Kamala are not singing from the same electoral songbook. Joe Biden last week wanted to show that he was in charge as Hurricane Milton barreled toward Florida, but along the way, he muddled matters for Kamala:
On Friday, the actual commander-in-chief gave an emergency press conference about the disaster from the White House briefing room, which rather overshadowed Harris’s big rally that day in the critical swing state of Michigan.
Last week, Harris … attacked Florida governor Ron DeSantis for being “selfish” in his response to Milton. Poor Joe hadn’t got the memo. He praised DeSantis for his “gracious” and “co-operative” response.
Joe Biden Failing His Mission
(T)he unprecedented nature of Harris’s elevation to the top of the Democratic ticket makes her Biden problem even more awkward. Ever since he was unceremoniously bumped out of the 2024 race over the summer, Biden has done his best to sound supportive. “I promise I’ll be the best volunteer Harris and Walz’s camp have ever seen,” he told the Democratic convention in late August.
Because of his declining mental health, Joe Biden often seems not to know what he’s saying.
The Kamala/Walz team also seems to be struggling. Michigan and Wisconsin’s “internal numbers” show Harris falling further behind than the numbers indicate. Harris’s media blitz misfired because she is “so bad at answering questions.” And now Pennsylvania, the 5th most populous state, seems to be closing in on Harris. Donald Trump reportedly has cut into Kamala’s led in the Keystone state., also aptly named the “Battleground State.
Freddy. How about lower-income male and non-white voters we hear so much about? “Losing ground there also.” Barrack Obama chided his brothers for not being “duly” impressed with VP Harris. But notes Mr. Gray, it’s never smart to accuse supporters of sexism.
Obama’s intervention only added to whispers of panic in high Democratic circles.
Love Him or Hate Him …
Meanwhile, let’s not forget there are two flawed candidates. Donald Trump sat down with chief John Micklethwait, editor-in-chief at Bloomberg News. According to Freddy Gray, it was a “magnificently weird occasion.” Trump devoured Micklethwait for lunch, even though Bloomberg’s editor was asking “perfectly reasonable questions.”
Who needs LSD when you can watch him as a presidential candidate, eight years in, still melting reality live on YouTube?
When Micklethwait bravely corrected Trump for calling Gavin Newsom NewSCUM, Trump, to the laughter of the audience, repeated NewSCUM. Trump wouldn’t hear about the claim that a regular CEO could be fired for using such language.
Trump’s Not Wrong
“NewSCUM, is what I call him,” reiterated Trump.
“There has never been a president that has been treated like me, so I have to fight my own way.”
