Can Trump and Putin Forge Peace?

In an essay this morning, Paul Craig Roberts called for a “US-Russia military alliance” to “establish peace in the world, no more NATO, no more CIA overthrowing governments, no more propaganda about false news threats, we could enter a golden era of peace.” He suggests:

President Trump seems to have the idea that the pursuit of mutual interests in business is far superior to the pursuit of war. Putin has shown himself to be the least combative of leaders of powerful countries.

Though it appeared that progress was being made on peace negotiations, this weekend the Trump administration’s own Rapid Response account on X.com posted a clip of NBC’s Meet the Press in which host Kristen Welker discussed a conversation she had with the President in which he said he was “pissed off” at Russia.

Later in the show, Welker talked to Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), in which Mullin explained that Trump gave Putin a chance to come to peace, and if Putin does not, Trump will get tough with Russia.
