In an essay this morning, Paul Craig Roberts called for a “US-Russia military alliance” to “establish peace in the world, no more NATO, no more CIA overthrowing governments, no more propaganda about false news threats, we could enter a golden era of peace.” He suggests:
President Trump seems to have the idea that the pursuit of mutual interests in business is far superior to the pursuit of war. Putin has shown himself to be the least combative of leaders of powerful countries.
Though it appeared that progress was being made on peace negotiations, this weekend the Trump administration’s own Rapid Response account on X.com posted a clip of NBC’s Meet the Press in which host Kristen Welker discussed a conversation she had with the President in which he said he was “pissed off” at Russia.
NBC: “Just hours ago, President Trump called me to tell me he is ‘pissed off’ with Russia’s President Putin and threatened to impose secondary tariffs on Russia’s oil.” pic.twitter.com/ikpmFH5t1Q

Later in the show, Welker talked to Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), in which Mullin explained that Trump gave Putin a chance to come to peace, and if Putin does not, Trump will get tough with Russia.
.@SenMullin: “What President Trump is trying to do is negotiate an end to the deal of individuals dying in Ukraine… and what President Trump has said right now is, if [Putin] continues to play games, he’s going to get tough on Russia just like he did in 2017.” pic.twitter.com/n4VgVHcIrA
