In a fiery newsletter, Daniel McAdams, executive director of the Ron Paul Institute, savaged Joe Biden for his war-mongering and mismanagement of hostilities with Iran. He writes:
Another week, another war. After a week or so of telling the world that it would soon start bombing yet another country – or countries – in the Middle East, the Biden Administration on Friday launched some 100 missiles into Syria and Iraq in “retaliation” for an attack on an American military outpost that killed three US servicemembers.
The Administration was quick to blame Iran for the attack ostensibly on a small outpost in Jordan called “Tower 22” (but likely inside Syrian territory). When asked by the media whether it had any proof of Iranian involvement in the attack, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said, “we don’t know,” but went on to claim that Iran was nevertheless to blame because it had provided the weapons and training to the militias who actually carried out the attack.
Until the US airstrikes took place, it was uncertain whether the US would actually attack targets inside Iran, which would undoubtedly start a major war in a region where more than 50,000 US troops are currently stationed within Iranian missile range.
Proving that irony and self-reflection are dead in DC, also late last week Russian investigators displayed evidence that it was a US manufactured and supplied Patriot Missile in the hands of US-trained Ukrainian troops that downed a Russian IL-76 transport plane inside Russia, killing the Russian crew and 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war on their way to an exchange with the Ukrainian side.
So if militias armed and trained by Iran are justification for a US attack on Iran, what about US provided missiles to US-trained troops to shoot down Russian planes over Russian territory? Is anyone at all in DC capable of basic rational thinking?
By the way, as someone pointed out this was possibly the first time in history that a US missile shot down a Russian plane inside Russian territory. The Doomsday Clockmust have had a panic attack.
In what must be one of the most bizarre events in world diplomatic history, multiple media sources reported that the Biden Administration contacted Iran through the Swiss embassy requesting that Iran not retaliate if the US attacks assets inside Iranian territory. “Please just let us hit an empty field somewhere – anywhere – to appease these rabid neocons…”
The Iranians, it was reported, rejected the plea out of hand, promising that any attack on Iranian soil would constitute crossing a “red line” that would definitely elicit a response. It seems Washington believes Iran when it declares a red line, so the plan was scrapped in favor of a series of (very expensive) attacks on Washington’s favorite punching bags, Iraq and Syria.
