Biden and the Democratic Party raised $85 million in May, compared to the $141 million that Trump and the Republican National Committee amassed, according to federal filings and statements from the campaigns. The president entered May with $212 million cash on hand, a record amount for a Democratic candidate at this point in the election.
Trump didn’t say how much he had in the bank, but his campaign and the RNC reported having $171 million cash on hand, though that total doesn’t include all committees supporting him.
The former president had a fundraising bonanza that began flowing immediately after his historic conviction in a New York courtroom of 34 felony charges, with online donors and billionaires alike donating to his campaign.
