The Senate GOP has finally gotten a bit of good news. Governor Rick Scott of Florida will run against Sen. Bill Nelson for that state’s U.S. Senate seat in 2018.
Scott brings a deep pocketbook that will force Democrats to spend a lot of money in Florida if they want to hold on to Nelson’s seat. Even if he were to lose, his presence in a very important state will force Democrats to spend money in Florida they would rather spend defending states like Montana, West Virginia, North Dakota and other GOP strongholds.
