Kicking Sand in Non White Faces

June 22, 2021 By Debbie Young

During the summer months while Matt and Becky were in public high school, they, along with many fellow Roger’s High School kids, worked at Bailey’s Beach on the Ocean Drive. It was an interesting learning experience, as many summer jobs are, on social and economic mores within, in this case, Newport’s summer beach community.

Coincidently, R.I. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and his wife Sandra have been members of the club for decades. The Whitehouse family is “now one of the largest shareholders in the all-white club,” reports Jordon Davidson in The Federalist.

Whitehouse is one of the many Democrat legislators who are often quick to jump on the race-driven agenda bandwagon. Not only has he pledged his support to Black Lives Matter via Twitter, but he also claimed he is working with his colleagues on the Senate Judiciary Committee to “bring lasting change” on “racial injustice.”

Despite the woke Senator’s claim that the United States needs to “root out systemic racism in its many forms and meet America’s full promise of justice for all,” Mr. Whitehouse shrugged off questions from a local news outlet about his Bailey’s Beach Club membership.

From Sen. Whitehouse:

It’s a long tradition in Rhode Island and there are many of them, and we just need to work our way through the issues.

To be sure, there are not “many of them.” A case can be made that no beach club in R.I. is more exclusive than Sprouting Rock Beach Association (Bailey’s Beach Club).

Even after the Democrat was confronted in 2017 over the club’s alleged dedication to keeping the club free of minority groups, he and his family continue to frequent the establishment on “most summer days” without a hitch.

Good thing Senator Whitehouse and his family are not non white.
