Gulf of Mexico’s Dead Zone

Did you know that the Gulf of Mexico now contains a hypoxic Dead Zone that covers twenty-thousand-square kilometers? I uncovered this disastrous info by reading up on Richard Manning. And any guesses as to where Mr. Manning places the blame, America? He correctly writes that “seventy percent of the Mississippi’s nitrogen comes from a relatively small six-state area that is the heart of the nation’s Corn Belt.” Shallow-rooted, flood-causing, nitrogen-loaded, omega-six-packed corn is the bad guy. And the idiots in Washington subsidize corn.
