We just received a note from our friend Leah Marshall, manager of the finest Palace Hotel, that Le Bristol will have a grand re-opening 1 September.
We check on all the dozen or so Palace hotels, usually a couple of times a year, and have either stayed at or dined at most. As of today, all are on the Right Bank. We do expect the newly opened Lutetia (Left Bank), however, to crack this exalted club roster.
Le Bristol rates number #1, as it powers along against big-time, heavy-hitting, well-financed competition.
Just what vaults Le Bristol into the #1 slot against an A-team of world-class competitors? Well, for Debbie and me, it’s the warm family-centric feeling, (Leah in many ways is responsible for the top-down guidance here.) Le Bristol’s Old World design, as well as its three world-class restaurants, the safest location in Paris by far (don’t understate that importance), and one of the three best wine lists in Paris.
Not to be left out is Le Bristol After Dark (BAD) with its century-old paneling, plush seating, and marble fireplace. As BAD bills itself – “a luminous tribute to the deep night of a hotel bar that dares to challenge all the rules.”
Ok then, you’re good to go. And oh yes, have a good grip on the counter when you receive your bill on checking out. Le Bristol does not bill itself as a budget getaway!
