Your Survival Guy’s looking forward to his upcoming transatlantic crossing on the QM2. As you know, there’s a bit of history with my name as Capt. E.J. Smith helmed the Titanic on that fateful day in history. I’ll be sure to check in with the discretion it deserves and not to speak too loudly for the benefit of those checking in behind me. “Yes, that’s correct, E.J. Smith, party of two.”
One of the best parts about taking bucket list trips like this one is the planning and the anticipation. The places we’d like to see and where we’re looking forward to eating in London and then in our home away from home, Paris. The hard part is the packing. I feel like throwing stuff in a steamer trunk and being done with it. But there’s always a checklist.
I’ve exchanged dollars for pounds and dollars for euros, and checked and double-checked the passport expiration dates. I’ve had that sinking feeling one of them expired, but it turns out it was just a misreading on my part. And yes, I’m reading about the protests and rioters. Sounds like America.
At the end of the day, you need to live. You need to take the trips. You need to see the world. Part of the fun is in the planning. And part of the fun is telling the stories upon your return. I hope to have plenty to share with you.
