Who’s Ready for the Big Game on Thanksgiving?

By Abdul @ Adobe Stock

I hope you’re ready for the big game this Thanksgiving. No, I’m not talking about the NFL, mahjong, or poker. I’m talking about who’s going to be the “smartest” investor in the room. Because when there’s no need for burden of proof and when losses can be swept under the rug, Mr. Smart Guy or Gal can plump his or her feathers ad nauseam.

What they often forget: You’re going to see them again in a few weeks or a year when instead of turkey, they may be eating crow. You know who gets the last laugh. Not that I’m wishing for that.

When markets soar and swoon, experts come out of the woodwork like Cousin Eddie, happy to offer “free” advice. Remember, when it comes to money advice, no one thanks you when you’re right, and they never forget you when you’re wrong.

So, when you’re asked: “What do you think about the market?” pretend you can’t hear so well and ask them to repeat it.

“What do you think about the market?”

Then watch the rest of the room jump on it like it’s the last turkey leg while you savor your last few bites. You’re welcome. Bon appétit!
