OK, we’ve seen how some governors can and will go wild, turning a virus into their personal crusade. Governors went wild in states like California, Michigan, and New York, and that’s not even counting the mayors of cities like Portland. How can you survive the chaos?
When there’s never enough “revenue,” a word the political class misuses—it’s not like they’re producing anything—redistributing what’s yours becomes a calling. A calling that should be yours to control—that is, if you want to give your money to others, fine, your call.
But when you’re in a system where producers are the product, you need to think long and hard about your future. We already know the House Democrats are calling for national voting laws, a first step to turning Washington, D.C. into the Amazon.com of government—governing all with one central authority. Imagine what they’ll do when tracking newly minted digital dollars gives them all the information they ever wanted to know about you. It will be “Government Prime,” a virtual panopticon from which there is no escape.
Once the Feds neuter and replace the state governments, they’ll have solved the last mile problem, bringing their authority right to your door. And they’ll start making decisions about equality and inclusiveness (not yours, of course) on a national level. In other words, solvent Red states and cities will be forced to bail out the Blue ones. Rahm Emanuel thinks this is the way forward.
Why not make your property taxes a federal tax? You see where they’d like to go, don’t you? I know you do.
Action Line: When your property taxes, say $10,000, go up 3% a year and compound over a lifetime, who’s owning whom? Stay tuned.
