Local and National News Reports: Gas Prices Are Up

November 23, 2021 By E.J. Smith - Your Survival Guy

Your Survival Guy received an email yesterday from National Grid, my natural gas and electricity provider. The email explained that “you may have heard on local and national news reports, natural gas prices have risen worldwide in recent months due to increased global demand and lagging natural gas production.” Really?

And to boot, “Since natural gas plays a major role in generating electricity, there will also be an impact on your electric bill.” Shocker. “While National Grid can’t control this global rise in natural gas prices, we are committed to helping you manage higher energy bills.” How?

News flash to National Grid: A good start would be to educate the ones producing the “local and national news reports” like all the major networks (sounds like an oxymoron these days like jumbo shrimp), CNN, MSNBC, Al Gore, and John Kerry for starters. You could even offer to meet Kerry at the jet port because he’s a busy guy. Wow.

Speaking of jets, have you seen the traffic leaving California? Your Survival Guy has, as the wealthy continue to turn places like Austin, TX into their home-away-from-home. You’re also seeing huge numbers of Californians moving east to the Inland Empire of Cali. According to the Wall Street Journal, “Nearly a half-million California households—both individuals and families—moved from one metropolitan area to another throughout the state, and many left coastal regions, where home prices have jumped to new highs.” That’s a lot of people trying to get away from the chaos of the big blue blob cities on the coasts. A split of the state, carved right up the middle, like a split turkey, might be the future for California. Money is moving. Pay attention.

What does this mean for inflation? What does this mean for the ships rotting off the coast of Cali? How will Biden & Co. tame it? This might get ugly. Because like central planning in Soviet Russia or Communist China, directives from above are old news the minute orders from above hit the streets, and unintended consequences take hold, wreaking havoc on price discovery. End result? Some will find riches, and others will be stuck holding the gas bill. Stick with me.

Action Line: Winners and losers will be the result as someone’s got to pay the bills. Stick with me.  If you’re serious about protecting your family from what’s to come, click here to sign up for my free monthly Survive & Thrive newsletter.
