What is the GOP Thinking?

June 30, 2010 By Richard C. Young

Why are Republicans not already threatening to filibuster Elena Kagan? She simply lacks the experience to serve on the Supreme Court. She has never served as a judge. How can such a know-nothing be considered for a lifetime appointment to the court? How can the GOP allow it to happen without putting up a fight? The installment of Elena Kagan on the court will put a radical-left political activist on the bench for what will likely be decades. Any senator voting to confirm Kagan should be on his way to an early retirement. The Kagan nomination deserves an unqualified F, and should be terminated today. – Dick Young

Kagan: A Life of Progressive Activism
“You can look to my whole life for indications of what type of justice I would be…[Y]ou can look to my tenure as Solicitor General…as Dean of Harvard Law…my scholarship, my speeches…” How about this? – E.J. Smith

A Partial-Birth Confirmation? – Human Events
Much like Ken Salazar, the secretary of the interior, who recently added language to a scientific report on the gulf oil spill to support a moratorium on drilling, Elena Kagan altered the text of a scientific panel’s report on partial birth abortion. Her alterations helped kill a partial birth abortion ban. This type of tinkering with scientists’ work to make it support a political outcome is certainly unethical, and could be unlawful. – Timothy Jones

Sessions to Kagan: ‘Unconnected from Reality’ – Audrey Hudson, Human Events
Elena Kagan’s complete reversal of her position on the military, relying on doublespeak and a claim that she supported the military’s efforts on the Harvard campus were summed up by Senator Jeff Session as being “unconnected from reality.” – Dick Young

Why Obamanomics Has Failed – Allan Meltzer, The Wall Street Journal
As the Europeans are getting some debt religion after being scared straight by the Greek failure, the Obama team, headed by Tim Geithner are urging the Euros to pile on the spending! They don’t want the Europeans to be more competitive than the U.S. by saving money, lowering taxes and implementing some long needed fiscal restraint. The U.S. is looking a lot like Greece these days and needs to start reeling in the debt and spending, quickly. Mr. Meltzer makes the great point that the Obama administration’s urging for another stimulus package here in the U.S. is proof that even they know the first one did nothing. After 18 months into his term, President Obama’s continued blaming of the previous administration is getting tired. – Dick Young

About Barack Obama
More information about Barack Obama’s history continues to surface. This latest information on last night’s Glenn Beck show was thanks to a listener. Where was the press? – E.J. Smith
