Commentary by Dick Young on Who Is the Enemy? by Pat Buchanan, Human Events
Pat rightly asks why the president didn’t move more swiftly to stop the burning of the Quran if that burning was going to endanger the lives of soldiers in Afghanistan. General David Petraeus said that the burning would be dangerous for American troops, it is up to the President to protect those troops, the first amendment does have limits when it puts people in danger. It’s another failure by the Obama administration.
Commentary by Dick Young on Pentagon Proposes Huge Sale of Warplanes to Saudis by Anne Gearan, Yahoo! News
Barack Obama has declared a “National Export Initiative,” to double exports in five years. It seems he plans on reaching that goal by selling weaponry to authoritarian nations that breed terrorists. Nearly all of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudi Arabians, as is Osama bin Laden. The Saudi’s have funded thousands of anti-American madrassas in places like Pakistan. Why is the Pentagon seeking to sell the Saudis $60 billion in weapons?
Commentary by Deborah Young on Back Door Card Check by the editors of The Wall Street Journal
The newly appointed NLRB Director, Craig Becker, is using a backdoor loophole to circumvent the will of Congress, and thereby the American people. Barack Obama appointed Becker without congressional review because he knew Becker’s record is so full of ethical holes that there was no way the Senate would approve him. Becker has immediately gotten down to some dirty work on the NLRB, arguing for the same solutions he argued for as a union lawyer only months ago. Anyone who remembers the President’s promise to not allow lobbyists into his White House should take a hard look at the case of Craig Becker.
Commentary by E.J. Smith on The 1099 Insurrection by the editors of The Wall Street Journal
The fact that a Pelosi/Reid Congress passed Obamacare without really knowing what’s in it is simply unconscionable. Now that they’ve stuck us with this mess we have to waste more tax dollars trying to undo it with amendments. The whole thing should be repealed. Now it becomes a race to the finish where we’ll either ruin the healthcare industry or painfully repeal a 2,000 page monstrosity piece by piece. This isn’t the hope and change voters signed up for and let’s hope they’re paying attention this November and remove those in Congress who were too busy to even read Obamacare.
Commentary by Timothy Jones on New York Primary Is Tuesday’s ‘Big Casino’ by John Gizzi, Human Events
New York is going to be fertile ground for GOP-House seat pick-ups in 2010. There are numerous districts in the state that have barely been held on to by Democrats in past races. NY-23, NY-20, NY-19, NY-24, NY-29, and NY-1 all appear to be on the brink of a party change. I’m not sure New Yorkers will send anyone from the GOP to the Senate, but as the slogan for the New York lottery goes, “Hey, you never know.”
