A Red Wave Coming?
In case you haven’t been following election results, Republican Mayra Flores made history this week when she won a special election in a South Texas congressional district, flipping a 150-year-old Democratic stronghold and soon becoming the first congresswoman born in Mexico.
Mayra Flores has the distinctive honor of winning Elon Musk’s 1st Republican vote.
According to the Houston Chronicle:
The race was a hard-fought victory for Republicans, who have been fiercely targeting South Texas since making inroads there in 2020. The national party poured money and resources into the contest, believing that Flores’ win late Tuesday night is an early indication that they can take back the U.S. House of Representatives in November.
