
A mysterious, sleek aircraft was spotted at Long Beach Airport by aviation photographers, initially resembling an F-117 Nighthawk but with no cockpit. It turned out to be Ravn X, Aevum’s autonomous aircraft designed to make large-scale aerospace logistics more flexible, according to The War Zone. It can serve as a mobile launch pad, launch-support aircraft, edge-AI and flight-test platform, and heavy cargo aircraft.

Ravn X was originally envisioned as the first stage of an autonomous space-launch system, carrying a rocket and payload into position for launch. Outside the launch role, Aevum says the aircraft can carry up to 30,000 pounds of cargo. Its core capabilities include edge AI and autonomous operations, making it more than simply a conventional aircraft adapted for space launches.
The aircraft had largely disappeared from public view, leading to doubts about whether the program was still active. However, Aevum CEO Jay Skylus later revealed that Ravn X recently completed its first fully autonomous taxi test, operating autonomously for about 37 minutes.

Current testing is focused on the aircraft’s AI and autonomy systems, steering, navigation, and electric propulsion/braking. While it has not yet been confirmed as flight-ready, the tests suggest that Ravn X is still alive and moving toward future autonomous aerospace operations.
