Germany has officially requested to purchase the US-made Typhon missile system, capable of launching Tomahawk cruise missiles and SM-6 interceptors, significantly boosting its defense and long-range strike capabilities. The system can reach targets deep inside Russia, including Moscow. The move, endorsed by US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, highlights growing transatlantic military cooperation. Typhon was recently showcased by the US Army during its first live-fire exercise outside the US at Exercise Talisman Sabre 25 in Australia, and again during Exercise Resolute Dragon in Japan, where it was revealed at a US base as part of joint drills with Japan aimed at countering China’s regional assertiveness.
