Türkiye’s K2 UAV Outmatches Shahed-136 with Size, Range, and AI

The K2 Kamikaze UAV, developed by Turkish Baykar and introduced on March 14th, 2026, is a large, AI-enabled, expendable drone capable of autonomous swarm operations and precision strikes. Recent tests demonstrated its ability to maintain complex formations, navigate without GPS in electronic warfare environments, and accurately engage targets using onboard EO/IR cameras.

While the K2 is primarily an expendable, one-way attack platform, Baykar has indicated that future development phases include versions that could return to base if they do not find a target or after releasing separate munitions, making them partially reusable.

With a maximum takeoff weight of 800 kg, a 200 kg warhead (Shahed 136 has a 40-50kg warhead), over 2,000 km range, and 13+ hour endurance, the K2 combines cost-effective production with high-impact long-range strike capability. It’s bigger and smarter than Iran’s Shahed-136 drone, according to Türkiye Today.
