President Trump’s Rebuilding Our Military FY 2027 budget calls for a historic expansion of US defense spending to “secure peace through strength.” The proposal seeks $1.5 trillion in total defense resources, including $1.15 trillion in discretionary funding and $350 billion in mandatory funding, marking a significant increase aimed at restoring readiness and lethality.

It includes a pay raise for service members, rapid procurement of critical munitions to strengthen the defense industrial base, and major investments in missile defense through the Golden Dome program.

The budget also dramatically boosts shipbuilding—funding 41 naval vessels under a new “Golden Fleet”—supports domestic critical mineral supply chains, and expands combat medical readiness. It frames these investments as necessary to modernize the force and address long‑neglected military capabilities. It’s the highest since 1962, reports USNI News.
