
Poland has selected the Swedish government’s offer of Saab’s A26 submarines to replace its aging Kilo-class boat, though no contract or order has yet been finalized. The proposal features advanced, Baltic-optimized A26 submarines and includes industrial cooperation and technology transfer aimed at building a long-term strategic partnership between the two countries. Saab CEO Micael Johansson said the submarines would strengthen Poland’s naval capabilities and support its economy, as Saab and Sweden’s defence agency now enter negotiations with Polish authorities to advance the procurement process. The Swedish government’s offer of Saab’s A26 submarines to Poland has been selected by the Polish government to replace the current Kilo-class submarine. At this point, Saab has not signed any contract nor received any order.
The Swedish offer comprises advanced A26 submarines from Saab, equipped with the latest innovations and technologies. The proposal includes cooperation with Polish industry and knowledge transfer, securing a strategic partnership between Poland and Sweden.

Saab and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) will now follow the next steps in the procurement process together with Polish authorities.
