KONGSBERG has successfully tested a containerized launch system for its Naval Strike Missile (NSM), demonstrating a new deployment option using a standard 20-foot shipping container. Conducted in Norway in autumn 2026, the test used an NSM Ballistic Test Vehicle to evaluate launch safety, handling and loading logistics, and pressure and blast effects. The container-based unit is designed to accommodate up to four missiles.
The new NSM Mission Module aims to improve deployment flexibility by allowing the launcher to be transported and operated from ships, trucks, or directly from the ground without modifying the container. This approach could make it easier to position and relocate missile systems across large geographic areas, particularly in coastal regions.
With the NSM already used by more than 15 countries, KONGSBERG’s development expands the system’s potential deployment options and supports integration with existing transportation and logistics networks.
