The US Air Force has extended the service life of the A-10 Warthog through 2030, reversing its planned retirement by 2029. Secretary of the Air Force Troy E. Meink said the decision, made in coordination with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, aims to preserve combat capability while defense production ramps up.
In consultation with @SecWar, we will EXTEND the A-10 “Warthog” platform to 2030. This preserves combat power as the Defense Industrial Base works to increase combat aircraft production.

The move follows increased A-10 operational use in recent missions, including close air support in the Strait of Hormuz and search-and-rescue operations during Operation Epic Fury. The exact number of aircraft to remain in service has not been confirmed.
