Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has called for the disbarment of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis over her prosecution of President Donald Trump. Newsmax reports:
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis “should be disbarred and all the charges dropped” in former President Donald Trump’s election interference case, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee told Newsmax Tuesday.
He said as much after a co-defendant in the case, former Trump 2020 campaign official Michael Roman, alleged in a court filing that Willis should be disqualified from the case and the charges dropped because she had an “improper” and “clandestine” relationship with the married special prosecutor who assisted in securing the Georgia grand jury indictment against Trump, according to the New York Post.
The motion argues that Willis’ failure to disclose her alleged relationship with the special prosecutor while paying him for his work on the Trump case with funds he allegedly used to go on extravagant vacations with the DA could amount to honest services fraud, as well as “a predicate act which could result in a RICO charge against both the district attorney and the special prosecutor.”
Huckabee told Newsmax’s “Wake Up America,” “I can’t imagine that any fair-minded judge would look at this case and say this is all on the up and up. But given what President Trump has been through in the legal system, were it not about what is right or what is wrong, but only let’s get Trump, while if its not Trump, heck we don’t care, let Biden, let Democrats do whatever they want, and let’s look the other way.”
He sarcastically added that, “given how ridiculous this whole case has gone, I doubt that [this scandal] will affect it at all.”
Huckabee said that what made the entire matter so scandalous is that this is being paid for by the taxpayers. “It’s not as if they are using private money that came from some hedge fund,” he said. “It came straight out of the pockets of hardworking people in Georgia who thought they were paying for a prosecutor to adequately, fairly, justly, and objectively prosecute crime.”
